Discover the Artistry Behind Zellige Tile (زلـيج)

Step into a world of artisanal wonder as we reveal the captivating story of Zellige Tile. This timeless mosaic art form hails from the rich heritage of Moroccan craftsmanship and promises to infuse your living spaces with an air of cultural charm.

The story and the making

The key material is a unique natural clay sourced from the region of Fez, Morocco. It is carefully kneaded, shaped by hand, and dried under the sun. In the fiery kiln, the tiles are fired creating what we call “بجمت” (bejmat) – the exquisite ceramic biscuits. The magic lies in the hand-glazing process, with captivating colors brought to life. A second firing sets the enamel, sealing in the vivid hues. The final touch involves cutting the glazed bejmat into various shapes and sizes, tailored to our customers’ vision.

Beyond the mesmerizing aesthetics, embracing Zellige Tile means embracing a story of sustainability, artistry, and cultural heritage.

Material information and usage

Zellige Tile can be used for various purposes: kitchen backsplashes, bathroom walls, or even as stunning floor patterns. The vibrant colors and captivating patterns effortlessly blend with both modern and traditional decor, making them an ideal addition to any interior space.

The durability and resilience of Zellige Tile make it a practical for high-traffic areas, ensuring that your interior investment will stay breathtakingly beautiful for years to come.
