When choosing a space-saving table, three possibilities can be considered, or rather, three tricks can be combined to find the most suitable and practical aesthetic solution for our home:
- Placement
- Size
- Function
Placement
What if there’s no designated space for the table, and we need to find one ourselves? I have two excellent tips regarding this.
The first tip is placing it in front of a window. These areas are often underutilized because we don’t want to block incoming light with large sofas or cabinets, but placing a table in front of the window can be advantageous for everyone.
The second tip is placing it behind the sofa. Typically, we push our sofas against the wall, leaving a significant space in front for movement, coffee tables, or watching TV. If we can aesthetically and practically move the sofa forward a few meters, we can have a custom-made table fitted, which can be very practical in small apartments.
Size
In terms of size we can select based on what fits, and we can optionally decide between round tables, traditional square tables, and also opt for popular console tables if a narrower table size suits our goals. My least favorite choice is the round table; I find it impractical and almost impossible to arrange in small spaces to save room effectively.
The most universally adopted tip for size selection continues to be the extendable table. This is because, generally, households don’t require a large table, but on occasion, we might appreciate the ability to comfortably seat guests when needed.
Function
Functionality is the most entertaining aspect. An increasing number of companies are introducing smart solutions to enhance the practicality of tables. Credenza tables, foldable tables, extendable, and lift-top tables… Every kind of small apartment can now find the perfect solution.
